A LOOK BACK AT THE DANCE SHOW 

PERFORMANCES – CELEBRITIES – WORKSHOPS – DANCE WEAR – FREESTYLING

Thousands of visitors flocked to The Dance Show, the midland's only dedicated dance exhibition, to experience the magic of a live dance spectacular, where the visitor could take centre stage. 

Taking place for two years (2010 & 2011) alongside Clothes Show Live, visitors experienced the buzz of the world's largest fashion and beauty event, whilst perfecting their dance skills, learning new moves, discovering a talent they thought they never had, whilst meeting their dancing idols.

HERE'S A LOOK AT WHAT WENT ON IN 2011:

THE SPIRIT STAGE: Featured a variety of live performances of all dance styles and genres, performed by professional and celebrity dancers, dance troupes and award winning pieces from dance schools and universities. With thanks to Le Mark for the official flooring partner of The Dance Show 2011, providing flooring for the Spirit Stage, the Freestyle Stage and all The Dance Studio

THE FREESTYLE STAGE: Kinect for Xbox 360 presented YOUR-Kinect experience at The Dance Show 2011. The Freestyle Stage was sponsored by Dance Central 2 on Kinect for Xbox 360. The Freestyle Stage brought style, grace and glamour to the Midlands! The perfect platform for budding dancers to show off their moves, impress the crowd and get noticed, hosted by Kimberly Jay.

WORKSHOPS & MASTERCLASSES: The show gave visitors a variety of classes for all styles of all levels and abilities, hosted by leading dance teachers and choreographers.

STUDIO ESSENTIALS: The chance to shop for the latest dance wear and accessories, helping visitors look their best at their next audition or dance class. 

ACADEMICS: For those taking dancing to the next level - dance schools, colleges, universities and academies were on hand offering support and courses to help further a dance career

STREET DANCE XXL: The UK's original premier street dance event, the Street Dance XXL Championships - as featured on Channel 4’s Street Dance Series - showcased the best of their talent at The Dance Show 2011!Top group finalists from the Street Dance XXL Championships performed their most impressive and show stopping routines to date.

THE DANCE SHOW TROUPE: Featuring 16 dancers, recruited from open and agency auditions, The Dance Show Dance Troupe , named  The d.inc. wear Dance Corps , entertained, performed and teased you with flash mobs around the show as well as having regular performances on The Spirit Stage, in the heart of The Dance Show. They wore the latest collections from the emerging dancewear brand d.inc. wear .


YOUNG DANCER OF THE YEAR 2011

Courtney George, 17, from Huddersfield competed against hundreds of hopefuls, before being awarded the Young Dancer of the Year 2011

World renowned choreographers David Wood, Jay Ravell, Spotlight’s Pippa Harrsion, Chris Manoe from Dancers Inc. and Britain’s Got Talent star Tobias Mead, were among the judging panel who had the gruelling task of whittling down the entrants and crowning the eventual winner.  

Britain’s Got Talent finalist Tobias Mead said of Courtney: “Courtney had the strongest dance technique and the best music technique with a great performance face. She was the most hungry to dance and the most hungry to perform.” 

Choreographer Jay Ravell said: “She was the most talented natural dancer and I’m a big believer of supporting dance.”

Courtney who is currently studying for her A Levels at Shelley College will win an exclusive contract to appear within Clothes Show Live’s famous Suzuki Fashion Theatre for the duration of Clothes Show Live 2012,, a year’s contract with top dance agency Dancers Inc. and a year’s membership to Spotlight dancers director. 

Courtney George said: “I’m so excited, it’s an amazing opportunity for me to win the award. I’m going to dance college next September so it’s hopefully the start of a long career in dance." 

Choreographer David Wood said “She excelled in her own choreography as well as the choreographed dance. “

The Young Dancer of the Year award aims to showcase and reward young skill, technique and talent, and provide the ideal platform to launch a career in dance.
