Ella Nails It

Ella is absolutely mad about nail art and design, there’s nothing she enjoys more than having a go herself, taking inspiration from celebrity looks, designer trends and the latest fashion collections. Since she’s forever changing her nails to match her outfit, the Clothes Show team asked her to take photos of her designs and write down her tips and techniques…and the Ella Nails It blog was born!

Confetti Colour Burst

A simple but effective nail art design for you all this week. I was inspired buy this bottle of confetti looking nail polish.

This is an oh-so-simple it hurts nail art design. All you will need is a dotting tool and an array of bright sweet colours.

Black 'n' yellow, Black ’n’ Yellow, Black ’n’ Yellow

When you first think of black and yellow you could be forgiven for thinking about wasps and bees rather then cool nail tips. Well today I intend to dispel that association with some cool nail art!

The Kit:

For this look I used the aptly named OPI Need Sunglasses and Kiss Nail Art Striper brush in black. You will also need a dotting tool or a cocktail stick for the dots.

The Be-jewelled statement Nail

Ok, so you all know by now that I do love a little bit of an outlandish nail art; the more garish/fierce the better in my books. But sometimes the situation may call for a bit of, how should we say a more toned down look. I remember a job where I was told off for wearing hot pink nail polish – it wasn’t in keeping with the yellow and navy staff uniform. Some people firms just have no taste!

So my tutorial for this week is for those situations where subtlety is key, but bland is never the answer - and for that you need the statement nail.

Essie Nails

It definitely feels as though spring is in the air this week so I wanted my nails to reflect this with some on trend pastel shades  fierce’d  up with a bit of the ol’ leopard print!

Polish You Pretty

Today’s entry was inspired by the lovely ladies over at Polishyoupretty’s great valentine’s nail art. Obviously Valentine’s Day has been and gone so my take on it is a little less pink!

Step 1

Have you checked out  Me Me Me cosmetics's nail range recently? If not , I suggest that you log on to www.mememecosmetics.com pronto. If you have, then welcome to the club!

I was lucky enough to get my  mitts on the  Autumn/Winter 2011 nail gloss collection and I have to say I was pretty impressed! The colours are a perfect mixture of  muted berries, rich purples, deep burgundies and grey concrete shades - a perfect pallet for this time of year.

I've been meaning to try this nail design out for a while now - its really simple to do but really effective

First thing. After preparing your nails with a strong base coat - I used Seche Vite base coat - apply your background colour I plugged for  Leighton Denny's Golden Girl and then OPI's Bring on the Bling for a bit of extra glitz!

I know that I have done drippy nails before but I thought that I would add a bit if a twist with a "Chanel" logo inspired by one of our exhibitors at this year's show...  Tequila Star

Once you have prepped your nails with a good quality base coat, paint your nails with your chosen first colour. I used a random baby pink shade that I had rolling around my nail-polish case. I would recommend painting on at least two coats to make sure that the coverage is even and opaque.

I have been wanting to try this nail trend for a while and finally got around to it last night. Surprisingly they are quite easy to do, but practice is definitely gonna make things perfect with these bad boys, well neater at least!
Out of all the nail designs that I've done so far this is definitely the most addictive the colour combinations and are limitless and you can have so much fun trying out different patterns!! I think that Im going to do a nail tutorial on next week's blog post so keep your eyes peeled!
